Resources
Over the years, affordable housing has been stigmatized -- often in undeserved and unjust ways. The perception is very different from the reality – there are hundreds of thousands of affordable housing developments across the country that not only house people, but have contributed to successful families, stronger communities, economic growth, educational opportunities, jobs, and better lives for residents of these properties. Housing America offers numerous resources that can assist in helping so many Americans in these, and other, areas.

Additional Resources Supporting the Mission of Housing America

Beginning in 2013, NAHRO partnered with HAI Group, Public Housing Authority Directors Association (PHADA), and Council of Large Public Housing Agencies (CLPHA), to launch the ReThink campaign. ReThink is a national public awareness initiative which encourages Americans to reconsider their preconceived notions of public housing and realize the benefits it provides to their greater community. ReThink challenges these misperceptions by sharing stories of success made possible through public housing.
At www.rethinkhousing.org, visitors can watch, listen, and read stories that describe how public housing has provided more than a roof over someone’s head. It provides the support for a mom to earn a college degree, services for disabled individuals, and the stability for a family who needs a place to study and do schoolwork. ReThink is another resource available for passionate housing advocates to tell the often marginalized success stories of affordable housing. Check it out now!
